What is WAFCAT?

WAFCAT is a non-profit organization that was established in 1999 as part of a social contribution project to commemorate DENSO Corporation’s 50th year anniversary.

DENSO is a leading supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components for all the world’s major automakers. DENSO established a NPO, WAFCA (Japan) in April 1999, which was the first NPO established by a corporation in Japan.
WAFCA projects began in Thailand in partnership with WAFCAT at the regional level, originally where DENSO established its first overseas manufacturing factory.

Mission Statement
The UN Convention has affirmed that every person with disabilities should be respected for their inherent dignity with full and equal human rights and freedoms.
However, approximately 15% of the world’s population is individuals with disabilities, 80% of whom currently reside in developing countries. Many children with disabilities in these countries still cannot receive adequate educational service as compared to other children.
In Thailand, for example, the national enrolment rate of basic education is nearly 100%, but for those who with disabilities, the number drops to less than 10%. Reasons for this may be from the lack of adequate support, such as wheelchairs, accessible environments, and positive attitudes and understandings by school teachers and their surrounding communities.
To respond to their needs, WAFCAT contributes to an inclusive and barrier-free society for children with disabilities by providing wheelchairs as a tool. We also aim to provide rights-based educational support for children with disabilities to be integrated into the main stream of society, and to have equal opportunities as with other children without disabilities.

1. To achieve inclusive development for people with disabilities to live independently through the widespread use of wheelchairs
2. To contribute to a barrier-free society in Asia through friendship and support activities
